Answer in brief
CVE-2024-2466 records a Medium severity (CVSS 6.5) vulnerability in TLS certificate check bypass with mbedTLS. The current sources do not mark it as known exploited. The current feed maps curl/curl (generic), curl/libcurl (generic), Siemens/SIMATIC S7-1500 CPU 1518-4 PN/DP MFP (generic), Siemens/SIMATIC S7-1500 CPU 1518F-4 PN/DP MFP (generic) and additional mapped packages. Check affected ranges and fixed versions before updating.

libcurl did not check the server certificate of TLS connections done to a host specified as an IP address, when built to use mbedTLS. libcurl would wrongly avoid using the set hostname function when the specified hostname was given as an IP address, therefore completely skipping the certificate check. This affects all uses of TLS protocols (HTTPS, FTPS, IMAPS, POPS3, SMTPS, etc).
