Answer in brief
CVE-2026-102404 records a Medium severity (CVSS 6.5) vulnerability in Uncontrolled Resource Consumption in Elasticsearch Leading to Denial of Service. The current sources do not mark it as known exploited. The current feed maps Elastic/Elasticsearch (generic). Check affected ranges and fixed versions before updating.
Analysis pending evidence review
HOL Guard separates source facts from reviewed analysis. See the methodology.
CVSS is 6.5. The current sources do not mark it as known exploited. Treat this as a source-backed prioritization signal, not a statement about your environment.

Uncontrolled Resource Consumption (CWE-400) in Elasticsearch can lead to denial of service via Excessive Allocation (CAPEC-130). A low-privileged authenticated user can submit a specially crafted query that causes uncontrolled memory growth in the query processing engine, resulting in an out-of-memory condition that terminates the Elasticsearch node. The condition can be triggered repeatedly, including by queries embedded in shared resources, causing persistent cluster unavailability.
