A path traversal vulnerability was found in Fleet's ImageScan subsystem in Rancher Fleet 0.12.0 up to 0.12.16, 0.13.0 up to 0.13.12, 0.14.0 up to 0.14.7 and 0.15.0 up to 0.15.3 could be used to traverse outside of the intended directory, causing a denial of service.
Update SUSE/Rancher to 0.12.16 if you use the affected versions. Test the change in a non-production environment first.
Local check
hol-guard supply-chain scanPath Traversal in Rancher Fleet ImageScan GitRepo Path Handler affects SUSE/Rancher (generic). Severity is medium.
AI coding agents often install or upgrade packages automatically in generic. A medium vulnerability in a dependency can be pulled into a project through a normal install or update without a human reviewing the change, expanding the blast radius from a single package to every agent workspace that depends on it.
