Answer in brief
CVE-2026-56117 records a Medium severity (CVSS 4.7) memory corruption vulnerability in CVE-2026-56117. The source record does not mark it as known exploited. No package mapping is present, so exposure must be confirmed against the affected product and deployment inventory.

Review the upstream advisory, identify the affected product in your inventory, and apply the vendor update when one is available.
Memory Corruption describes the vulnerability class recorded for this advisory. The current record does not mark CVE-2026-56117 as known exploited; continue to monitor the source for status changes. This is a product-level record in the current feed, not a package-level dependency mapping.
Affected software not mapped. Review the upstream record for vendor-specific product and version guidance.
dhcpcd through 10.3.2, fixed in commit 78ea09e, contains a heap use-after-free vulnerability in the control socket handling within src/control.c that allows local unprivileged attackers to trigger memory corruption when privilege separation is disabled. Attackers can connect to the control socket and send a privileged command such as -x, causing control_recvdata() to free the client object while the same READ+HANGUP event subsequently reaches control_hangup() with the stale pointer, resulting in a use-after-free condition exploitable in deployments using --disable-privsep or where privsep initialization has failed with the control socket operating in mode 0666.
