About Quanta Costa

Is my $200-a-month Claude subscription worth it?

I pay €180 per month. For a long time, I couldn’t really say what I was getting in return. So, I built a little tool: Quanta Costa.

In Claude Code, it displays four lines right above the input field:

🧾 Period: how much of the current billing month has already passed
📊 Week: how much of the weekly limit has been used, and whether it will last at my current pace
💶 Session: what the current task would cost if billed via the API
✅ Value: the total API-calculated value of all sessions during the current period, compared to the subscription cost

My result after two days: €332 in API value against a €180 subscription—a factor of 1.8. The subscription paid for itself in just two days.

I wanted to know for sure, so I calculated the value of all my saved conversations since June.

A rough estimate: about €9,500 in API value over four months—between 5 and 16 times the cost of the subscription each month.
