Answer in brief
CVE-2026-119339 records a Medium severity (CVSS 5.5) vulnerability in Tesseract: Crafted LSTM model (`WeightMatrix` mode byte) triggers `ASSERT_HOST` abort in `WeightMatrix::DeSerializeOld` under `FAST_FLOAT` — Denial of Service. The current sources do not mark it as known exploited. The current feed maps tesseract-ocr/tesseract (generic). Check affected ranges and fixed versions before updating.

CVSS is 5.5. The current sources do not mark it as known exploited. Treat this as a source-backed prioritization signal, not a statement about your environment.

Tesseract is an open source OCR engine. Prior to 5.5.4, WeightMatrix::DeSerialize trusts a mode byte from a traineddata LSTM network and calls WeightMatrix::DeSerializeOld when kDoubleFlag is clear. In default FAST_FLOAT builds, DeSerializeOld invokes ASSERT_HOST instead of returning an error, so loading a crafted model through TessBaseAPI::Init terminates the process and causes denial of service. This issue is fixed in version 5.5.4.
