About Filesystem MCP

Filesystem MCP connects your own AI client, or apps like Claude, VS Code and Cursor, to the folders you choose. The AI can read, search, edit and compare files there, and it can't see anything outside those folders.

Secret files like .env and private keys are hidden by default. The AI has to ask you before it deletes a folder or overwrites a file. Read-only mode lets it look without changing anything.

It runs on your computer, sends no data anywhere, and is free and open source.
